Accessory Packaging & Tech Pack – Adidas Trefoil Beanie

 OVERVIEW 
This project is a comprehensive packaging and product development campaign centered on the adidas Trefoil Beanie, reimagined as part of a hypothetical seasonal drop titled Arctic Comfort Collection. The campaign encompasses brand alignment, product profiling, packaging design, and the creation of a full product tech pack. The objective was to elevate a simple accessory—an acrylic beanie—by introducing premium packaging, technical precision, and lifestyle storytelling that aligns with adidas’ core values: innovation, performance, and sustainability.

ABOUT THE BRAND
Adidas, founded in 1949 by Adi Dassler, is a globally recognized leader in sportswear and lifestyle apparel. Known for its iconic three-stripe trademark, Adidas is driven by a mission to enhance athletic performance, promote sustainability, and harness the unifying power of sport. Its brand values emphasize innovation, authenticity, inclusivity, and a performance-driven mindset.
THE PRODUCT
The product selected — a unisex Trefoil beanie — was profiled for its all-day warmth, iconic Trefoil branding, and one-size-fits-most versatility, making it an ideal candidate for a strong packaging concept.
 SOLUTION 
Tech Pack Design
The creation of a tech pack offered a behind-the-scenes blueprint of the beanie, designed to guide production with precision and clarity.
Packaging Dieline & Concept
The packaging design concept revolved around an igloo form — a direct metaphor for warmth and protection, reflecting both the product’s function and visual color (solid off-white). The dieline file was a custom design that was carefully scaled to match the product’s physical dimensions and resemble a simplified igloo shape while maintaining manufacturing viability.
Design Development & Mockup
After sketching compositional concepts and refining visual identity, the packaging graphics were applied to the dieline in Adobe Illustrator. Additional design details included custom typography, barcode integration, sustainability icons, and brand storytelling copy referencing “Arctic Comfort.” The mockup was printed, constructed, and photographed professionally.
Prototyping & 360 Video
A high-fidelity physical prototype was created to validate structural integrity and visual alignment. Photography was used to document angles and finish, and a 360° turntable video was produced to provide a dynamic view of the final product.
EVALUATION 
The project was effective in visually aligning the product packaging with Adidas’s brand identity and product purpose. The igloo-inspired design elevated the unboxing experience, reinforcing warmth and comfort while standing out at retail. The integration of technical detail and brand strategy into the packaging structure allowed for a unique yet feasible consumer experience. By merging storytelling, functionality, and manufacturability, the packaging offered both visual impact and commercial practicality.
